Maison Verget Macon-Villages Terre de Pierres 2014
The wine itself is a clear, light, bright, yellow-gold. On the nose you find lifted tropical fruit, pineapple, white peaches, subtle blossom and a hint of hazelnut. On the palate, zingy lemon opens up to luscious melon notes, all the while lovely and dry and drawing to a stoney, minerally, finish. Although it shares some Riesling aromatics, its weight, viscosity and hearty, nutty finish set it apart. It's Chardonnay without any of the oak or butteriness. Really clean and a great balance.
