Unico Zelo Jungle Junge Dolcetto 2021
100% nebbiolo from the Adelaide Hills made by groovy young winemakers Brendan and Laura Carter. In the glass this is a pale garnet with a rusty orange edge. On the nose you’ll find roses, plummy red fruit, fairy floss and bracken. And on the palate - raspberry and pepper with a touch of chinotto. This has a lovely pithy astringency with firm textured tannins. Yum.
Medhurst Yarra Valley Pinot Noir 2021
"Brilliant crimson red, light to medium intensity promising a delightfully enchanting young Pinot Noir. Lovely nose, highly perfumed wine with red cherry, five spice, mint and floral notes dominating the aromas. The palate has a core of red fruit flavours and the mouthfeel is lithe and energetic. Superb drinking with slinky fine tannins and a clean, fruit-driven finish. A wine made for immediate consumption that will improve with careful cellaring over the medium term (3-5 years)." Winemaker's notes.
Head Wines Head Red Shiraz 2018
"There's a lot happening here, all of it good. 80% is sourced from the Eden Valley, 20% the Barossa Valley, co-fermented on skins for 14 days, matured in French oak (10% new), the barrel size ranging from 225L to 2250L. There's a poultice of red and black fruits and ribbons of fine, ripe tannins. You can't deny a wine like this." 96 points, James Halliday, Halliday Wine Companion.
Warramate Cabernet 2017
Classic cabernet made by award winning Yarra Yering winemaker Sarah Crowe. "Lovely cabernet. Medium in body, svelte by feel, charming by nature. Currants and pencils, bay leaves and choc. Confident and classy in an unforced way. It has the balance to drink well now but over the medium term and beyond it will develop beautifully." 92+ points, Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front.
Cirillo Estate Vincent Grenache 2021
One of the most underrated wines in the country. 100% grenache sourced from 100+ year old vines in the Barossa. Made with only a light touch of old oak, this wine is always fresh and bright. Clear ruby red in the glass. On the nose you’ll find whisps of rose petal, juicy raspberry jubes, vanilla and fennel seed. On the palate, raspberry and pomegranate notes meld with spicy liquorice and pepper. It's a medium weight wine. Deliciously crisp acid and feathery soft tannins deftly bookend this nice dry finish.
Terre a Terre Crayeres Vineyard Cabernet Franc Shiraz 2018
“The 63% of Cabernet Franc makes its delicate mark, with ink and violet florals, sweet anise and fresh, well-defined blackberry and plum. It is medium-bodied, with subtle cedar oak, a fine, chalky plume of tannins and persistent acidity. A unique, lissom red, with lovely balance and finesse for the price.” 95 points, Decanter. Dec 2020.
