An international six mix for white lovers. Wines from Australia, France and Italy.
Scala Ciro DOC Bianco 2019 - 100% greco handpicked off organic vineyards from the wonderfully underrated Scala winery in Calabria. On the nose and palate you’ll find an abundance of floral, musk, white flower and tropical fruit aromas and flavours. Dry and crisp, with refreshing lemon acidity. At 12% and with it's cool retro label, it’s perfect warm weather drinking.
Bollini Pinot Grigio 2020 - Terrific grigio from the north east of Italy. “Straw yellow in colour, clear-cut and delicate on the nose, with scents of acacia flowers, minerals and pear. The fresh natural acidity supports the wine.” Winemaker’s notes.
Rieslingfreak No.4 Eden Valley Riesling 2021 -“The bouquet leaps forth with aromas of white florals, sweet spice, lime and quince. The palate is elegant yet assuredly structured with foundational slate-like minerality running beneath the more delicate flavours of citrus and rosewater. The racy natural acidity, which is a hallmark of the vintage, runs the length of the palate, drawing through to a fine, crisp finish and lingering lusciously in the mouth long after the wine has gone.” Winemaker's notes.
De Iuliis Single Vineyard The Garden Hunter Valley Semillon 2019 -“The lines are taut, the flavour is pristine. This bristles through the palate in excellent style, its lemon and lemongrass flavours strung in precise place. It goes without saying that an excellent future is in store.” 96 points, Halliday Wine Companion (and a special value offer). Included in Halliday’s ‘Best of the Best’ 2021 varietal winners in the semillon category.
Medhurst Yarra Valley Chardonnay 2019 -“Bright pale straw with green hues, extremely vibrant and brilliant in the glass. The nose shows hints of grapefruit and stone fruit, both rich and flavoursome yet subtle. No real oak influence, but plenty of mealy, flinty notes. The palate is poised and powerful, showing off a benchmark Yarra Valley vintage. Again oak in the background it simply helps usher the beautiful pure fruit to the back of an effortless long and fine palate. This wine will look terrific over the medium term.” Winemaker's notes.
Langlois-Chateau Saumur Blanc 2018 - 100% chenin blanc from the Loire. The wine is a clear, light greeny-gold. On the nose and palate you'll find fresh melon, green apples, citrus and tropical fruit. A subtle hay/grassy character makes it just a touch like a Hunter Semillon. Medium-to-light-bodied with crisp tart green apples on the finish and a hint of Euro savouriness and minerality. This is why many regard the Loire as the home of great value drinking. Perfect mid-week French tipple.
